WHO IT'S FOR

Why each type of shop buys this compressor

One machine, three very different buyers. Here's the case for each — plus the honest note on power at the end.

DIY & serious home garages

BUILD ONCE, NEVER UPGRADE
◆

The last compressor you'll buy — no working up from a pancake to a 60-gallon to a two-stage as the shop grows

◆

Quiet in an attached garage — an enclosed rotary screw hums where a piston pump hammers

◆

Clean, dry air with nothing to add — the dryer is built in, for paint, plasma and air-tool life

◆

Never waits — run a media blaster, DA sander or tire tools without stopping for the tank to catch up

Small businesses & trade shops

ONE MACHINE FOR THE WHOLE SHOP
◆

Supplies every bay from one unit — no second compressor when you add a lift or a technician

◆

Runs all day — 100% duty cycle avoids the wear that kills piston units in a couple of years

◆

Consistent finish quality — the integrated dryer means fewer paint and coating redos

◆

Monthly payments with RBC — a manageable business asset, not a cash-flow hit

Bigger businesses & production

UPTIME AND COST PER CFM
◆

Cheaper to run than banks of piston compressors — more air per horsepower, less energy per CFM

◆

Keeps the line moving — continuous duty plus a digital controller with service alerts

◆

Handles demand spikes — the 500 L receiver covers blasting and several operators at once

◆

Canadian support & parts — no import lead time when production is down

A note on power: the 20 HP motor needs 3-phase electricity — standard in commercial buildings, and available to a home shop with a phase converter. Not sure what you have? Send us your tools, bay count and power supply and we'll confirm it fits before you order.

WHAT SHOP AIR IS FOR

What a compressor this size lets you run

Air tools are rated in CFM at 90 psi. A rotary screw compressor delivers a steady flow, so you can run several demanding tools at once without the pressure dropping. [Tool figures are typical ranges.]

Tool / job Typical air draw Notes
½” impact wrench [~4–5 CFM] Run several at once across the shop
Air ratchet / die grinder [~4–8 CFM] Continuous use, no waiting for recovery
DA / orbital sander [~10–13 CFM] Bodywork all day without starving other tools
HVLP spray gun [~10–14 CFM] Integrated dryer keeps moisture out of the finish
Plasma cutter (air) [~6–10 CFM] Steady pressure for clean cuts
Sandblast / media blasting [~15–30+ CFM] High sustained demand — where rotary screw earns its keep
Shop-wide air drops [add tool CFM together] Multiple operators on one system
WHY ROTARY SCREW

The difference vs. a piston compressor

Piston (reciprocating) compressors are the value choice for intermittent use. Once air is running for hours at a time, a rotary screw is the tool for the job.

Continuous duty

A rotary screw runs 100% of the time without overheating. A piston unit is designed to build pressure and rest push it and it wears fast.

More air per horsepower

Screw compressors deliver more usable CFM for the same motor size, and hold pressure steady instead of cycling up and down.

Clean, dry air built in

Compressing air makes water. The integrated refrigerated dryer removes it before it reaches your lines protecting finishes, tools and fittings from rust.

Quieter, and lower running cost

Enclosed and vibration-isolated, it's quieter than an open piston pump and the cost per CFM over its life is lower.
BEFORE YOU BUY

Power, space and setup to plan for

A machine this size needs a few things in place. Check these before ordering, and involve a licensed electrician and a compressed-air installer for hookup.

Three-phase power

A 20 HP motor needs [3-phase] service and a correctly sized breaker and feeder. Confirm your building's supply and [full-load amps] with an electrician.

Placement & ventilation

A dry, level, ventilated area with clearance around the enclosure for cooling airflow. Keep it out of freezing temperatures.

Air distribution

Hard-piped drops sloped to drip legs, air taken off the top of the line, isolation valves per bay. The 500 L tank buffers demand across the shop.

Condensate handling

The dryer and tank produce condensate. Plan a drain line and, where required, an oil-water separator to meet local disposal rules.

ANSWERS

Air compressor questions, answered

The questions buyers search before choosing a shop compressor.
What is a rotary screw air compressor?

A rotary screw compressor uses two interlocking helical rotors to compress air in a continuous flow, instead of a piston pumping in strokes. That lets it run 100% of the time without overheating, hold pressure steady, and deliver more air per horsepower. which is why it's the standard for shops that use air for hours at a stretch.

What size air compressor does a busy auto or body shop need?

Add up the CFM at 90 psi of every air tool you'll run at the same time, then add about 30% headroom. Multi-bay shops running sanders, impacts and spray guns typically land in the [~60– 90 CFM] range. which is what this 20 HP unit is built to supply, with the 500 L tank buffering peaks.

Does this compressor need three-phase power?

Yes. A 20 HP motor requires [3-phase] electrical service with a properly sized breaker and feeder. Most commercial and industrial buildings have it; confirm your supply with a licensed electrician before ordering.

Do I need to buy a separate air dryer?

No. A refrigerated air dryer is built into this package, so you get clean, dry air out of the box important for spray finishing, plasma cutting and the life of your air tools. Additional point-of-use filtration can be added for specific processes.

Is this worth it for a home garage?

For a serious home shop restoration, fabrication, a car collection yes: it's quiet, gives you clean dry air with no bolt-on dryer, runs any tool without waiting, and it's the last compressor you'll buy. It does need 3-phase power or a phase converter. For occasional tyre-and-nailer use it's more than you need send us your setup and we'll be straight with you.

How is it delivered and installed?

It ships free on a pallet anywhere in Canada, or you can pick it up in Richmond, Vancouver or Calgary. Position it with a pallet jack or forklift onto a level pad. Hookup needs a licensed electrician for the 3-phase connection and a compressed-air installer for piping and drains.

Is financing available?

Yes, TOOSA offers monthly payment plans through RBC on the compressor, the same as our tool storage. Ask us for terms, or start your order and choose the financing option at checkout.

CFM vs. PSI, what should I size against?

PSI is pressure; almost any compressor makes enough. CFM (airflow) at working pressure is what runs your tools continuously size against the combined CFM of everything running at once.
